Twitch Strikes Back in Ongoing Streaming Platform Feud
- Twitch renews partnerships with three of its biggest streaming celebrities.
- LIRIK, DrLupo, and TimTheTatman stay put on Twitch.
- Deals reportedly span multiple years and involve millions of dollars.
Twitch has secured the ongoing services of three of the platform’s biggest streamers, striking the latest blow in the streamer wars. The feud was initiated by Microsoft-owned Mixer’s lucrative deal with Fortnite streamer Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevin last summer.
Deals Mean LIRIK, DrLupo, and TimTheTatman Stay Put
Saqib ‘LIRIK’ Zahid, Ben ‘DrLupo’ Lupo, and Timothy ‘TimTheTatman’ Betar announced today they would continue to stream exclusively on the platform that made their respective names.
As is typical with these types of high-profile deals, the exact terms were not made public, but source suggests multi-year agreements in the millions of dollars.
The three streamers published videos on Twitter announcing their renewed partnerships with Twitch. It’s become an almost customary medium for these announcements, with LIRIK, DrLupo, and TimTheTatman adopting a different approach as you can see below.

The news succeeds a recent deluge of high-profile bidding wars leading to the likes of Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek joining Ninja over on Mixer. Other notable deals saw Fortnite streamer Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop partner with YouTube, closely followed by Jeremy ‘DisguisedToast’ Wang moving his streaming operation to Facebook.
Twitch Fights Back
While the latest trio lacks the mainstream recognition of Ninja, they feature among the most recognizable faces on Twitch. LIRIK counts over 2.5 million followers, surpassed by DrLulpo’s 3.7 million, and TimTheTatman’s 4.1 million. Elsewhere, the three streamers boast impressive social media followings.
The trend has been an exodus of top stars away from Twitch. Despite this, the platform remains the most dominant by a considerable margin.
It appears the last few recent acquisitions have pushed Twitch to take steps to retain its most prized assets.
The move to secure the services of known quantities with firm fan bases sends a clear message. Twitch won’t shy away from flexing its financial might to safeguard big-name talent.
