Harry Styles Wants to Be an Actor but He Should Just Stick to Singing
- Harry Styles is in talks to star in “My Policeman,” a queer romance.
- He’s also replacing Shia LeBeouf in Olivia Wilde’s film, “Don’t Worry Darling.”
- It looks like he’s putting his music career on the back burner, but he should stick to singing instead of trying to be an actor.
Harry Styles is taking on Hollywood.
The ex-One Direction singer is in talks to star in a new queer romance, “My Policeman,” along with Olivia Wilde’s latest film, “Don’t Worry Darling,” but what will happen to his more successful music career?
Styles is just another celebrity who thinks he can do everything. All singers want to act, and all actors want to sing. Some are successful, and some aren’t. If he chooses acting, his music career, which is at the height of success, might crumble.
Who Will Harry Styles Be Playing In His Next Movies?
The details about “My Policeman” are scarce so far. Styles and actress Lily James are still only in talks to star.
The story will likely follow the novel of the same name, taking place in the ’90s and surrounding “elderly invalid Patrick” coming to stay with Marion (James) and Tom (Styles), which results in Tom and Patrick developing a romance during a time when homosexuality was illegal.
In “Don’t Worry Darling,” Styles will be replacing Shia LeBeouf, who left because of scheduling conflicts, but again not much else is known about his character Jack.
Why Does He Want To Act?
Styles got his first taste of acting in Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk,” where he played a small part as a soldier. He took the job because he loved the story.
When I heard about this, I just wanted to be involved. It’s an honor to be a part of this important story.
Nolan also said that Styles was glad not to be the lead.
Harry shied away from being a ‘star’ in it. He’s a humble guy who didn’t want attention. He enjoyed the idea of not carrying it; that he was part of an ensemble.
Even though he had a small part, Styles still got to experience Hollywood and wants more.
But his part in the film can hardly give him enough experience to start a full-on acting career.
He’s Giving A Lot To Acting And Throwing His Music Career Away
“Don’t Worry Darling” was supposed to start shooting some time at the end of this year, but it might be pushed back.
“My Policeman” is set to start filming next summer, conveniently when Styles’s “Love on Tour 2021” is scheduled. So it’s looking like Styles may have both movies filming at very close proximity or even simultaneously. How will he squeeze in a tour?
The tour already has dates, though, and it’s supposed to promote his 2019 album, “Fine Line,” which was a huge success. Canceling this tour just so he can dabble in acting would not be a wise choice and could sink his musical career and fanbase.
But Styles has said no to an acting job, specifically the part of Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid, because it conflicted with his tour at the time. So there might be hope yet.
Everything’s a bit up in the air for the musician right now, but we’ll have to wait and see what his schedule will be like and if he’ll juggle it all or crumble under all the pressure.
